The Turtle Brothers

I made these two turtles by following this pattern. Although simple, I have learned a new technique of making a 'ridge'. We named the black-and-white one "Pete" and the other one "Pat".

My older daughter loves these turtles so much. However, she keeps only the black-and-white one to herself and gave the other one to her younger sister. She knows what sharing is. : )

Winter Bears

I crocheted a second Winter Bear for my younger one. I used the same pattern as I did for my Blue Winter Bear. I've learned some techniques to improve my crochet skills to make a rounder head. I changed yarn colors to make a pattern on the sweater and I was more careful when assembling and decorating the bear. Here she is, Amanda, a new addition to my amigurumi collection.

A Start of the Amigurumi Journey

I have been reading a tutorial website teaching how to crochet small stuffed animals for a while. I really want to make cute animals for my little girls but I was intimidated because (1) I knited a rabbit but it turned out ugly, (2) I didn't know how to crochet and (3) I didn't have time to start fresh.

However, I really can't resist all those adorable stuffed animals and it has always been my dream to make toys or stuffed animals for my kids. After I sent my little girls to bed, I sneaked out and read the tutorials.

This is the tutorial website that helped me start, http://www.bloggang.com/viewdiary.php?id=dezign&group=1. The owner of the website is generous enough to provide the tutorials and share his patterns. I am thankful for what he has done and would like to give all credits to him.

I am a beginner in search of ideas and suggestions. At the same time, I hope that my attempt and this Amigurumi journey will inspire others.

My very first Amigurumi started with a "Blue Winter Bear with Scarf". I followed this pattern, http://www.bloggang.com/viewdiary.php?id=dezign&month=09-2007&date=04&group=3&gblog=4. It's very easy to make and took me only one day.

My older daughter was very excited to see me making a bear for her. She loves it so much. She named him "Mike" and now Mike becomes her new buddy. : ) We even baked a birthday cake for him. Click here to visit my Delicately Sweet Baking Blog.
